Lorenzo
Giannecchini started making music in 1986 as guitar player and
singer in a punk band in Viareggio, a small town on the
seaside of Tuscany. Most of his music influences were from the
US indie scene of that time, also crossover and hip-hop, but
later on he came in touch with a new thing coming from the
Chicago area. It was based almost completely on samples,
produced with a basic equipment at home and so called house
music. In 1993 Lorenzo moved to London attracted by the UK
acid-house and jungle scene. He wanted to make experience and
give a break to song-related music; he started composing new
atmospheres made just of electronic beats and sounds. He teamed
up with Charlie Boskic (ecletic figure and former bass player
of the legendary 70’s band Silver Convention) working in a
recording studio and starting his experience as music producer.
Many projects followed like the drum’n’bass project with the
african singer Anna Mwale who at that time had a contract with
Sony Music. He also found some studio time to work on his own
ideas and produced his first demo. This took Lorenzo in touch
with top Italian dj/producers Father of Sounds who asked him
to remix one of their tracks (Sun Brothers - Tell Me What)
Lorenzo’s first work to be released on the italian label DWA
owned by legedary producer Roberto Zanetti.
It was 1997. Lorenzo came in touch with some other important
labels such as Botchit’n’Scarper and Kingsize Records and this
led him to set up his first set as a DJ. The first important
festival he played was “Dentro la Galassia” in 1999 in Italy
where he opened the night to Kingsize’s Meat Katie and
Outcast.Since then he has never stopped, he now runs a
recording studio and produce music under many different names
such as Freaky Disco on Edel Records or as producer of Lisa
Brown on Time Records. His singles have been succesfully
released and licensed to UK, France, Germany, Spain, Benelux,
Australia and South Africa and he is also very dedicated to
his last projects as Blake, as Monobros with DJ Giorgio
Giordano, and Frogsnatcher with DJ Zak Frost. These many
projects keep Lorenzo very busy in his studio and also took
him to work for some of the most interesting dance labels in
Europe. Time and Edel as already mentioned above, but also
Bini & Martini’s Ocean Trax for Monobros, Paul Murphy’s Afro
Art for Frogsnatcher and an exclusive distribution deal with
Level One for the next Blake’s music. As Frogsnatcher Lorenzo
and Zak had recently remixed the single “Husband” by Ashley
Slater (formerly member of Freak Power along with Fat Boy Slim).
